Hello!
A while ago I took a holiday to Venice with family for a week to celebrate a birthday! I thoroughly enjoyed all the history, art and pizza! But whilst I was preparing for it, I discovered something I thought you should know about…
Mike’s Holiday Tip
EHIC (no not something you get when you have drunk too much pop… hic!). It’s the “European Health Insurance Card” and they expire! They last 5 years before you need to renew them.
There are some horrible people who try to charge you for renewing it, and they make their website look very convincing! All nice and blue NHS type colours and talk about government accredited and all official looking…
But they are free. They take 10 working days to arrive and if you are travelling in Europe, even if you have holiday insurance as well you should still take a valid EHIC card with you.
You can get a free one here: https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/startApplication.do
Turns out mine expired a while ago, oops, but thankfully a new one arrived before I set off! I keep mine in my passport, and now I have put the expiry date on my calendar so I will remember in future (Assuming they still exist in the future)
Bon voyage,
Mike 🙂

In reference to you adding a expiry date reminder in your calendar are you aware of the following Mobile APP – EHIC:
Download EHIC app from the App Store
Tap the menu button (Burger shape Icon top Left of the display)
Tap the option “Set card expiry reminder”
Other menu options available are:

Other detailed information available is:

Hello
Mike’s already off now but that’s interesting – I don’t know if he’d seen that app before but I hadn’t, so I’ve learnt something new!
Thanks

Thank you, Jeanne!
I’m really excited for going away! I’m sure I will write up a Journal Post on it when I’m back with some photos… not sure how I will tie it into technology but I’m sure I can find a way…
Mike 🙂
