Hello, I’m Tim.
I started off by jotting down notes explaining how to use the PC for my Mum and Dad. Then I started adding pictures of the screen to make it clearer – and eventually thought “Other people might find this helpful, not just Mum and Dad”.
That’s when I set up The Helpful Book Company. Over 300,000 copies of the books later, it turns out I was right – other people do find the books helpful! Since then I’ve written several more books, recorded some videos and got a few more grey hairs due to….
Alastair and Edward – my two little boys, who arrived in July 2010 & April 2012. They get a mention from time to time in my weekly Tim’s Tech Tips newsletters. Alastair tells me he wants to come and have a desk next to mine when he grows up, so we can help each other when we get stuck writing a book…
Hey, I’m Jess.
I’m kept pretty busy here at The Helpful Book Company. I started out in Customer Services, but now as well as helping Mike out now and then, I do a bit of editing, a bit of book-keeping and the monthly payroll too!
In my spare time I teach dancing at a local dance school. I trained as a professional dancer so it’s nice to pass on my knowledge to the next generation. I also love going on long walks with my two springer spaniels, Sam and Harley. They love the beach so we try to get down there as much as possible.
Hi, I’m Mike.
Mike doesn’t work here any more but you’ll still see some of his post and other bits and pieces he created on the Inner Circle… and we still see him popping in from time to time to say hello.
I help out answering questions and writing Journal posts on the Inner Circle. And when I’m not busy with the Inner Circle, you’ll find me tinkering with various IT related things in the office.
I (shamefully) love chips, crisps, chocolate and coke (the real stuff out of a glass bottle).
A friend of mine (a doctor so it must be true… right?) once told me that anything beginning with a C does not have calories in it…
I really enjoy walking in The Lakes or along a nice beach, or to anywhere that sells chips actually… I love taking photos and listening to the radio. And I always wear odd socks. Life’s too short to pair socks…
